VisitorsDue to the cases and hospitalizations from the COVID 19 virus, Woodlawn Hospital is taking additional precautions to protect our patients and staff.
Only the Emergency entrance at the front is the hospital is open except for surgery patients on the day of surgery.
One visitor at a time is allowed for NON-COVID In-Patients.
One visitor is allowed with NON-Covid Out-Patients.
All patients and visitors will be screened before entering the hospital. Anyone with a fever in the past 24 hours, who have COVID symptoms, or have had been exposed to COVID in the last 14 days will not be allowed as a support person.
All individuals (except bedded patients), in all Woodlawn facilities must wear a mask. Those unwilling to properly wear a mask that fully covers their nose and mouth may be asked to leave the premises.
Woodlawn Hospital welcomes visitors to our facility. Visits by family and friends play an important role in a patient's healing process.
Visitor parking is available in the front of the hospital. For convenience, patients may be dropped off at the front Main/Emergency entrance. Be sure to check in at the volunteer desk or the switchboard, located in the front Visitor entrance to the hospital, prior to visiting to make sure your visit occurs at the most appropriate time. View a map to Woodlawn Hospital.
All outside entrance doors, except the Emergency entrance, are secured at 8:00 p.m. After 8:00 p.m., visitors are only able to enter through this entrance. Elevators and doors to access patient care areas require staff assistance to enter and exit.
New Generations Birthing Center doors are secured at all times; safety of all newborns is our utmost concern. Ring the bell provided for assistance, and a member of our nursing staff will open the door if visitors are allowed.
Visitors, please keep in mind:Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the hospital or on the grounds.
Maintain a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise.
If you have a cold, sore throat, or any contagious disease, you should not visit patients.
Visits should be kept short in order to allow the patient to get sufficient rest to promote healing.
You may be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when the doctor or nurse needs to care for the patient.
You should not make frequent trips back and forth from waiting rooms to patient rooms. This causes a high level of traffic in the hallways which is a safety hazard.
Gifts for PatientsVisitors are asked to check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients. Food brought from home cannot be stored in hospital refrigerators.
Flowers are delivered shortly after they arrive. Please check with the nurse before bringing flowers in case the patient has asthma or is immune compromised. Due to the increasing number of latex allergies, Woodlawn Hospital prohibits latex balloons in the facility. Mylar balloons, however, are acceptable.
Mail is delivered to patient rooms daily. Any mail received after discharge will be forwarded to the patient's home address.
The Gift Shop is located at the Visitor entrance, across from the elevator, and sells a wide array of merchandise, including: new baby gifts, get well gifts, greeting cards, candy, books, jewelry, and collectibles. The Gift Shop is a project of the Woodlawn Hospital Auxiliary, and accepts credit cards, cash, and personal checks. Proceeds from Gift Shop sales are donated back to the hospital to benefit patient care.
